Mors Korchanski is a hero of ours. He has devoted his life to researching and teaching skills to help people survive in the outdoors, particularly the cold of his native Canada. His devotion has made him one of the world’s leading authorities on wilderness skills.
There are many books out now about survival or bushcraft, with beautiful covers and great marketing but there is a danger that some can be replicating earlier books and the authors don’t have first hand experience.
There is tendency for teachers to tell people how to do something, as if that is the only way. In contrast, we seek out books written by those who have hands-on experience and who respect others' knowledge, who explore the different ways something can be achieved.
We credit Kochanski's Bushcraft: Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival, combined with personal experience, in giving him a greater confidence and safety in wilderness, and a deep connection with nature.
