Micro-navigation and Natural Navigation Day – Family Fun Outdoors event

Never be lost again! In our morning session, learn to navigate with compass and map in our micro navigation course, also great for those interested in orienteering.

In the afternoon we’ll study natural navigation, learning to navigate by starlight, moon, wind and sun.

Choose either the full day session or opt for just the morning or afternoon session.

Micro-navigation  — 9:30-13:00

This session includes learning:

  • map and compass
  • timing
  • pacing

Natural Navigation — 14:00-17:00

This session includes learning:

  • how to read the landscape
  • navigating by natural features depending on time of year

What should I bring?

  • Comfortable, warm layers of clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy or wet
  • Waterproofs (optional)
  • Lunch and drinks

Location

We are based on the 1300 acre Bamff Estate, by Alyth in beautiful Perthshire. During and after your session, discover wild beaver dams, otters, roe deer and red squirrels.

By the end of the afternoon session you may hear the owls hooting and maybe even see the beavers!

Suitable Ages?

Ideal for children 9 and up, though younger children are welcome (parents/guardians may need to give additional help)

Cost

Single ticket: £18/person per session or £30/person for full day
Family ticket: £25/session or £45/day (2 adults, with our without children)
