Develop your skills as natural navigators, using the sun, stars, moon, plants, winds and your senses combined with an awareness of your world, space and time.
We will include both classroom theory and practice on short walks. You are encouraged to try walking barefoot at least once.
Those with a basic understanding of navigation, including the movement of planet Earth and thus the changes that occur to lunar, solar and celestial bodies.
You do not need to have a degree just a general awareness of science and your world. Ask if you are not sure this course is for you. The other courses would be good preparation for this advanced course.

This is getting close to real freedom and connecting with both our ancestors and our environment.
What will I learn?We will safely take you out at night to explore and be part of nature. We cannot promise stars but if they are visible we will look at constellations and now to use these to find you way – as our ancestors did.
Hopefully we will get to lie back in the heather, sheltered and warm, and watch clouds drift by the moon or hear oystercatchers and curlews as we enjoy the simmer dim (summer twighlight) and the cool blue of the gloaming.
Our other senses will be heightened as light fades, smells and the wind and the texture of the land beneath our feet all give clues to navigate by.
You don’t get much closer to nature than this – and you get to learn a very valuable and ancient lesson.
Night vision is desirable but for safety reasons we will also carry torches and emergency equipment so you don’t have to.
Night exercises are suitable for both beginners and more advanced students. So if you are interested in learning about the stars, and getting practical experience, this is for you.
